Paul Reader, founded Paul Reader Snow and Mountain Sports in 1956. He has been a snow enthusiast since the age of 17. Paul's Uncle, Bill Beatty, (a famous Australian Author) introduced him to the sport. That was back in the days with wooden skis and no lifts.
 |
| From these pioneering beginnings, Paul went on to race in all forms of Nordic & Alpine competition eventually winning the National Ski Jump Championship in 1956. He was on both the State and National Ski Teams for many years before turning professional.
He and his wife Michele passed on the snow addiction to their three children, Nic, Marc and Kelly who were all taught to ski as soon as they could walk. The two boys went on to become members of the Australian Alpine Development Team and both represented Australia in slalom, GS and downhill. |

Many of our customers may remember Paul from his days as manager of the KAC (Kosciusko Alpine Club) in the early 50's when the Chalet was in its infant years. Paul also owned and ran Christiania lodge for many years in Thredbo in the 60's. Currently he lives at Paul Reader's Place.
|
| Paul accomplished great feats like being the first to cross from Kiandra to Kosciusko on the 1st July 1954, the trek took 10 days and he was accompanied by two of his friends, Keith Field and Douglas Baglin. He was also the first person to take guided ski tours to the United States in the early 60's.
When questioned about his service to the Australian snow sport industry, Paul replied that, "although we have had our ups and downs due to snow |
